Summary

  • You will automatically get paid your course earnings via Stripe.

  • You can create discount codes, manage student receipts, and issue refunds via Stripe.

  • When you earn money on Maven, you'll keep 90% of your course earnings minus Stripe fees.

Maven's pricing

When you start charging for your course, you keep 90% of your course earnings minus Stripe fees. Maven is free to use until a student pays to enroll in your course. Through our integration with Stripe, you'll automatically get paid out 90% of every course enrollment. Maven's fee is 10% on each paid student enrollment.

Connecting to a Stripe account

To collect payments for enrollments, you'll need to connect a Stripe account to your Maven account. You will do this in your course Settings.

Select your Stripe-supported country, click "Connect with Stripe," and follow the on-screen prompts to complete your setup. Once you've connected Stripe, you'll be able to set your course price (and change it if needed).

Managing student receipts

If you would like students to receive receipts, please make sure to enable the "Email customer emails about Successful payments" setting within Stripe.

Do I have to pay Maven after I receive a payment?

Our Stripe integration is already set up so that Maven receives its 10% share during the payment processing. If a student pays $1000, Maven will receive its fees ($100), then Stripe will receive its 2.9% + $.30 ($26.40). The rest ($873.60) will be sent directly to your bank account.

How much does Stripe charge?

Stripe starts at 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction. This is the case for a US credit card paying a US-based instructor. Fees vary slightly depending on payment method, where the student is paying from, and where the instructor is based.

Can I add discounts and promo codes?

Yes, in your Maven account, you can create discounts based on a fixed amount (-$250) or a percentage off (-10%). For more on discount codes, check out this short article on setting up discount or promo codes for your course.
