The Student Growth Program (SGP) drives new students to your course through Maven-led growth initiatives. It is designed to align with Maven's premium brand while maximizing your earnings.
When you set your course price and publish on Maven, you're automatically enrolled in the SGP, but you can opt out anytime by emailing [email protected].
How the SGP Works
The SGP has four pillars:
Scholarships
Maven may offer up to two full scholarships to any cohort. Maven uses these to drive word of mouth, in partnership with newsletters or influencers, for example. Additionally, one Maven team member can audit your course at a time.
Promotional discounts
Maven may apply up to a 30% discount to any cohort. Maven uses these for referral incentives, bulk purchase incentives, site-wide promotions, and editorial promotions such as “best-of” lists. Currently, we run site-wide promotions twice a year, and instructors are typically provided advanced notice via email. We do not publicly offer permanent discounts.
👉 Example: Fee structure for a $1,000 course with 25% discount
Enrollment price: $750
Maven platform fee (10%): $75
Instructor earnings: $675
Business-to-Business Sales
As of Q4 2025, Maven is beta testing a business-to-business (B2B) sales engine to drive higher volume distribution. To incentivize this, we may offer B2B partners up to 40% of the enrollment price. This is in addition to Maven’s standard 10% platform fee. This is a test and it will take time to figure out the right formula. For now, we foresee 3 use cases:
A. Bulk purchases in public cohorts. Typically, larger purchases (>20% of a cohort size) will be discussed with the instructor because they affect the quality of the public cohort. Discounts will be given based on the bulk purchase chart on the landing page, with a max of 30% for particularly large purchases.
B. Private cohorts. If companies want to buy a private cohort, Maven will contact the instructor during the sales process and the instructor will decide if they want to accept the deal offered.
C. Bundles. Maven is going to experiment with “bundles” so companies can bulk purchase seats for employees for multiple cohorts at once. When possible, Maven will use our bulk purchase rates. Maven may also offer an "unlimited access" subscription price for select companies. For any 2026 sales, Maven will divide revenues (minus our fees) and evenly distribute amongst instructors who receive enrollments. We will design a more permanent pricing system in 2027, when we are out of beta testing.
👉 Example: Fee structure for a $50,000 private cohort, sold via B2B partnerEnrollment price: $50,000
B2B partner fee (40%): $20,000
Maven platform fee (10%): $5,000
Instructor earnings: $25,000
Paid Marketing
Maven may select your course for marketing initiatives that drive sales though paid and partner channels. Every initiative is funded upfront by Maven, operationally and financially. You will only see marketing fees when we deliver course sales.
For these initiatives, Maven may offer a 15% maximum discount, and receives a 30% fee on the net sale price of directly attributed sales. This is in addition to Maven’s standard 10% platform fee. Channels currently include, but are not limited to, affiliate marketing and paid advertising.
👉 Example: Fee structure for a $1,000 course with 15% discount, sold via affiliateEnrollment price: $850
Affiliate fee (30%): $255
Maven platform fee (10%): $85
Instructor earnings: $510
Maven’s Student Growth Program, just like Maven overall, leverages our collective strength as a platform and brand, while maintaining the freedom of each instructor to run their own unique and independent course business.
The SGP does not replace your personal marketing activities, which you will always be most suited to lead.
Opting Out
To opt out, email [email protected] with at least 48 hours' notice with subject line “Opt-out of Student Growth Program”. Opt-out becomes effective for new enrollments only; existing promotional commitments continue through completion. By opting out, you forfeit participation in all Program benefits, including but not limited to: site-wide promotions, affiliate marketing, paid advertising, B2B sales, enterprise partnerships, and any future paid initiatives. Opted-out courses remain subject to Maven's standard 10% platform fee.
