Instructor Guide to the Student Growth Program

The Student Growth Program (SGP) is our way of helping drive more students to your courses through strategic promotions and partnerships. When you set your course price and publish on Maven, you're automatically enrolled, but you can opt out anytime by emailing [email protected]. You can view the full terms here.


How It Works

We share revenue based on the actual sale price after any discounts or affiliate fees are applied. Here's how the program works:

Promotional Discounts

We can offer temporary discounts on your course (never to exceed 30% off) to test different growth strategies. For example:

  • Peer referral incentives to encourage your students to recommend courses to friends

  • Bulk purchase options for teams and organizations, including marketplace-level discount codes for bulk B2B sales (these will appear as ending in "xMAVENB2B" in your analytics dashboard). Instructors in the SGP also gain access to a custom bulk purchase enrollment modal with a standard rate card, to easily let teams make 1 purchase for multiple students.

  • Site-wide promotions featuring curated "best-of" course collections (typically twice per year—we'll notify you beforehand)

These aren't permanent price cuts. We use discounting strategically to find what drives the most enrollment growth.

Affiliate Marketing

For courses priced above $250, we work with approved brand partners who can:

  • Offer up to $100 off your course price

  • Earn up to 30% commission on the final sale price

We carefully curate these partnerships to ensure they align with Maven's brand and your course quality. Affiliate sales will appear in your analytics dashboard (with codes ending in “xMAVEN”) to help you see which channels are driving enrollment. Courses are selected for affiliate partnerships based on alignment to the affiliate’s brand and performance with the affiliate’s audience.

Scholarships

We can provide:

  • Up to 2 full scholarships per cohort (for courses under $2,500)

  • Access for 1 Maven team member to audit your course

We use scholarships strategically—often partnering with newsletters or influencers to create buzz that drives additional paid enrollments.

Paid Advertising

We're also investing in targeted paid advertising (starting with LinkedIn) to drive new student enrollments. For now, we’ll carry all the risk, and will take 30% only when new students enroll (just like affiliate sales), even if it means running this test at a loss. Our goal is to learn how to drive new student sales at increasing scale.

Opting Out

The Student Growth Program has already proven successful, generating 10% of total Maven sales through affiliate and bulk channels. As we continue growing, this program gives us the flexibility to test more new sales channels quickly so we can drive more students to your courses.

You maintain full control over your participation. If you'd prefer not to be included in the SGP, simply email [email protected] and we'll opt you out at any point. If you're already opted out when we launch a new promotion, your course won't be included until that promotion ends.
